After your non-surgical facelift, you will need to follow instructions in order to properly take care of your skin. Aftercare can vary from patient to patient, depending on the methods used during the treatment. It can also depend on the extent of the patient’s skin issues and health.
Although the treatment is not as invasive as surgery, you may still have some mild side effects. For example, some swelling, bruising, and redness are common following a non-surgical facelift. These symptoms are usually not anything to be concerned about and typically fade in a week or two. We can prescribe oral pain medicine to help with any discomfort. Generally, no downtime is required after a non-surgical facelift but we would exercise caution against strenuous exercise or excessive chewing (eating hard foods, etc).
Following your non-surgical facelift, you may need to:
- Avoid direct sunlight for 24 hours
- Apply sunscreen before going outdoors
- Apply cold packs to soothe the area
- Keep the skin moisturised
- Avoid skin products with harsh ingredients
- Avoid rubbing or irritating the skin
Results are normally seen around three to four months after treatment. The skin will begin creating new collagen fibres, and due to this, your skin will see continual improvement in the weeks after your treatment. Patients will have more lifted and radiant skin that creates a more vibrant and youthful look. However, success is often in the eye of the patient. This means some patients may need more than one treatment to attain the results they desire. A second treatment may be needed in around six months, especially if the patient has a lot of excess volume on the face.
Whilst a non-surgical facelift gives patients lasting results, it will not stop the effects of the natural ageing process.
